I met Nico in BA in 1998, and luckily I was able to convince him that American girls made good company. Three years later we were married in Vegas. We spent 4 years in FL, 3 years in NY, 2 years in Buenos Aires, and now we plan to spend many years here in Ashburn, VA

Determined to celebrate Halloween
What is it that we are actually celebrating anyways? The question from every Argentinean yesterday at the party. You know what I told them. Google it! haha
I tried to convince our ward to throw a party about three months ago but didn't get any response from them. We almost went to another ward where there are several American families and they were throwing the typical halloween ward party. However, we decided what fun would that be when we didn't know a soul and much less for Mati and Pili. I fell victim to throwing a Halloween party right by myself. It got rained out so we ended up in the church gym. It was a lot of work but I can honestly say this time I think Nico did more than me so I give him most of the credit. He did all the decorations and all the clean up work afterwards while I played in the bounce house and chatted with a few gals who hung around. The kids had the time of their life and of course it's all about them right :)
Because I was so busy being the host these are the only pictures I have of our family. I never could get Pili to put on her Minnie ears and didn't take the time to go to plan B; pigtail ears. Mati poor thing we painted his head with paint and in a rush didn't do the best of a job. After 10 minutes he said his head hurt and I had to do away with Yoda's ears :( He wasn't comfortable playing in his jedi robe either and we did away with that after about 5 minutes. I thought Nico was a HOT Jedi, and Mickey's tail was a hit, the kids must have pulled it off a hundred times.
trick or treating
DO YOU SEE THE INFAMOUS TAIL?
Lili's first halloween and what a good sport.
I love how 4 year old girls seem to adore Pili

First house guest
Our friend Lili and her family moved into their new apartment last weekend. We were priveleged to be their first dinner guest.
They were great host, nevermind the fact that we passed around an old shirt to clean our hands. Napkins are a luxury for this family, and that's ok, it's one of the reasons we love them so much. What wasn't ok was that the shirt happened to be a Boca Jrs. shirt (Nico's soccer team)!! hehe
The delicious empanadas, pizza, and french fries made up for it.
Night prior to Lili's dinner Nico teaches the kids how to make a fire and a delicious steak! I requested a T-bone forget the classic Argentinean meat.
Ale takes his first bubble bath he was fascinated and wanted to know how and where I got those bubbles.
I promised him a lot of pampering after removal of an infected tooth. He has been almost a year with a ball the size of a marbel over his right k-nine. It was bacteria that had accumlated from an infected tooth and was manifesting itself through his gums.

Stroller theft
While pushing Mati and Pili both in the umbrella stroller today, the metal holding the left wheel took a nice bend, leaving it wheeless. I continued on, pushing them using the two back wheels until I finally gave up and decided to say good bye to our stroller. I abondoned it on the sidewalk and entered the park. In less than five minutes a man came running to us yelling someone is taking off with your stroller
We got a kick out of it, in less than 5 minutes our red stroller had a new owner! I hope they can make use of it.

EGGPLANT YUMMMMMMMMMY
Hats off to my mother-in-law who since March has made me eggplant every week, I kid you not. She mixes it up; eggplant parmesian o sauteed eggplant. Seven months and I still look forward to eggplant every week. The mosquitos tempt me to head back to the US but Mabel tempts me to stay :)
In case I've made you work up an appetite I decided to throw this picture in to make you lose it!
SPRING
First warm day of spring, the mosquitos are already tearing the kids up. I have a feeling they are going to drive us back to the US.
Spring clean up. Mati's class made trashcans and put out around the block. Thursday they are going to the plaza to hand out reminders to use the trashcan. I am very glad to see that Argentineans are being eduacted about pollution. You'd think they were clueless by the amount of trash on the streets.
