reminiscing

Germany 4 years ago and 7 months pregnant with Matias. Our first world cup.
I was really just along for the ride. However, when we entered the stadium of the first Argentine game I felt the passion immediately and began to cry. Seriously it was amazing. I'm a die hard fan now and am looking forward to this next month. If Argentina ends up playing against US, please don't ask me who I'd route for. I don't know a single American Player :( The first time I came to BA was in 1998 and the world cup was going on and I fell in love with Veron. Now there is the famous Messi and Tevez. I remember we went downtown to the Obelisk after Argentina winning an imporant game and it was insane. People all over the place climbing the redlights and all. Oh the Excitement!!

Argentine players arriving to the stadium

That is the German coach in the middle

Maradona (soccer idol) wannabes! I fit it pretty well huh? Maradona is now the Argentine Coach! WOW good stuff

Argentina v England, played on 22 June 1986, was a football match between Argentina and England in the quarter-finals of the 1986 FIFA World Cup at the Estadio Azteca in Mexico City. The game was held four years after the Falklands War (Spanish: Guerra de las Malvinas) between Argentina and the United Kingdom (of which England forms part) and was a key part in developing the intense football rivalry between the two nations. It was also a match which included two of the most famous goals in football history, both scored by Diego Maradona. His first, after fifty-one minutes, was the Hand of God goal, in which Maradona scored with an illegal, but unpenalised, handball. His second, after fifty-four minutes, saw him dribble past six England players, and in 2002 this was voted Goal of the Century by FIFA.com voters. Argentina won the game 2–1 and went on to win the 1986 World Cup with a victory over West Germany in the final. Maradona won the golden ball for player of the tournament whilst England's goalscorer on the day, Gary Lineker, won the golden shoe for being the tournament's top scorer.

1986 the last world cup Argentina won...... It's been a while...... VAMOS ARGENTINA!
